KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory
Our Approach
KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory (KTCP) creates a dynamic, inviting learning environment for every student. Our approach is rooted in community and relationships, as well as research-based institutional practices. KTCP is a place where students are challenged to learn and grow, while also feeling safe to ask questions and take risks. Above all, we seek excellence in everything that we do.
Our Culture
At KTCP, our classrooms provide structure while radiating joy. Together with our students and families, we lead by example and strive to continuously grow and learn. We encourage our students to act as models to their peers, guided by the character strengths of Curiosity, Grit, Self-Control, Gratitude, Zest, and Optimism.
KTCP is deeply rooted in North Tulsa. Many of our teachers and leaders grew up and live right here in the community. We are proud to partner with community organizations such as 100 Black Men Tulsa and The Zone.
Academics
We help our students develop the skills and habits to speak with confidence and reach their highest aspirations. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and excite students, and is backed by research and aligned with national standards to ensure all students learn at high levels. Our rigorous classroom instruction is paired with opportunities for summer programming and after-school tutoring for additional support. Our teachers and leaders take time to learn what each student needs and build close-knit relationships with every student who walks through our doors. Our model is supported by partnerships with local organizations including The Zone.
We believe that an excellent college-preparatory education will set our students up to thrive . Through our KIPP Forward program, we offer students the opportunity to explore college and career pathways starting in middle school, from college and career fairs to campus visits and more. KIPP 8th graders can even apply to participate in KIPP EDGE, a dual-enrollment high school program with Tulsa Community College! To learn more about KIPP Forward, click here.
Extracurriculars
The KIPP Tulsa Bulldogs are in the house! We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including team sports such as football, track, basketball, and cheer. Our football team, co-hosted with Central High School, won the 2021-22 state football championship! Beyond sports, we offer music and language classes as well as after-school activities through the Zone, including chess, debate, robotics, and cooking clubs. Our marching band is open to all grades from 6th through 12th, and you don’t even have to be a KTCP student to participate!
